ABSTRACT

In Mexico, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography 2018, there are 4,057,719 microenterprises and 111,958 small and medium-sized enterprises (MiPyMES), these economic units contribute greatly to the gross domestic product (GDP) of most countries in the world, In our country, MSMEs are responsible for almost three quarters of total employment in Mexico. The sanitary measures that the public administration has imposed as a consequence of the spread of the COVID-19 virus have caused MSMEs to lose opportunities and have found it necessary to distribute their products through electronic commerce. Therefore, it is relevant to investigate the effect of the changes that MSMEs have faced in this context. The objective of this article is to evaluate the effect of Electronic Commerce through the dimensions: preparation of the company for electronic commerce, benefits of electronic commerce, barriers to electronic commerce, relationship between public policies and electronic commerce and the adoption of electronic commerce. electronically, in order to provide information that facilitates decision-making and the design of strategies related to electronic commerce. A descriptive statistical content analysis study was carried out, the data was collected through the application of surveys with a Likert scale to 100 companies in Tabasco, Mexico. The results indicate that 42% of those surveyed affirm that the company invests in computer equipment to participate in electronic commerce, 42% totally agree that the company has increased its sales thanks to online sales, 44% % of workers say they know the advantages of selling online, 46% say that the government does not provide companies with technology that encourages online sales.

ABSTRACT

Introduction. In 2020, the first two weeks of the enforced transformation of all the levels of school education, which was initiated as one of the measures against the Coro- navirus disease (COVID-19), revealed a range of issues hampering the appropriate distance education. The absence of the methodological basis for conducting online classes in the Kazakh pedagogical community defined the need to study and enhance forms and technologies that would be efficient to use to interact with students during the transition of the national educa- tion system to distance education. Aim. The aim of this research lies in defining efficient methods for distance teaching of computer science in the Kazakh secondary school students in terms of ensuring the mainte- nance of the quality of knowledge and the academic progress of students at the sufficient level corresponding to that of the traditional in-person education. Methodology and research methods. A total of five educators and 320 students of three Kazakh schools took part in the study. At the moment of the experiment, the students were aged 12 to 18 years old. The participants were divided into seven groups according to the edu- cational level (5th-11th forms) in order to make it more convenient to trace qualitative changes in the academic progress depending on the selected method for distance teaching of computer science. The authors conducted three control evaluations of the quality of knowledge in each of the 320 participants. The t-test for unpaired samples for every group was conducted to prove the statistical certainty of the calculated average reference values, which were required to con- firm the viability of the conducted research. The analysis of the data obtained at the concluding stage of the experiment allowed to compare them with the reference values calculated at the preliminary stage of the research in question. For the comparison, The authors applied the Mann-Whitney U test for independent samples.Results. The preliminary analysis of the quality of knowledge related to the discipline of computer science in the participants revealed generally high and average level of both ac- quisition of theoretical information and development of the subject-related skills, which was registered based of the results of in-person education. The leading experience of the specialists composing the authors' initiative research group allowed developing a structural scheme for an online lesson. The lessons applying this scheme were conducted up to the end of the academic quarter. By conducting the Mann-Whitney U test, we discovered that the obtained average values of the quality of teaching computer science to the participants statistically increased (I group - Uemp = 6.49 (p s 0.05), II group - Uemp = 7.46 (p s 0.05), III group - Uemp = 6.05 (p s 0.01), IV group - Uemp = 6.71 (p s 0.05), V group - Uemp = 6.91 (p s 0.01), VI group - Uemp = 6.65 (p s 0.05), VII group - Uemp = 6.21 (p s 0.05)). Despite temporary fall in the efficiency of teaching computer science registered during the transition to the distance model, it was man- aged to achieve the level of academic progress and acquisition of knowledge corresponding to that of in-person education. Scientific novelty. TThe significance of the collected and analysed data was statistically proved. The data confirmed the efficiency of the use of defined and adapted approaches and teaching techniques, which were able to compensate the absence of traditional in-person les- sons, while preventing the fall in the academic progress and the quality of knowledge in stu- dents. Practical significance. The obtained results evidence the success of the arrangements aimed at the enhancement of the methods for distance teaching of computer science in the Kazakh secondary school students during the transition to distance education enforced due to the pandemic.

ABSTRACT

With the American social software Facebook officially announced its name change to "Meta”, the concept of "Meta Universe” has really entered the public field. The meta universe is an Internet social form based on the integrated application of various emerging information technologies. It has transformative value for the future development of all walks of life, including the education industry. Since the outbreak of covid-19, online Chinese learning of most foreign students has changed from a short-term accidental state to a normal state. In this way, we must pay attention to how to seize the opportunity of the development of meta universe technology, combine the meta universe cloud classroom with AI digital people, and create a new scene of educational application integrating multiple technologies under the new AI ecology. Only in this way can we build a new educational paradigm change, and solve some bottlenecks and difficulties in the current development of Chinese cloud classroom interaction for foreign students, so that classroom teaching can truly promote the development of students' knowledge, ability and emotion, and finally cultivate students' innovative spirit and practical ability. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic turned both private and public life upside down. Teaching and learning at higher education institutions worldwide had to move online on very short notice. This means that all the educational process must be converted into a digital format for the transmission of a large array of information through electronic exchange. Online learning has been an important research topic over the past three decades, but online study programs at the universities are still limited. This article tells about the experience of foreign countries in the successful implementation of information and digital technologies in the educational process of universities. Information technologies in training are used in South Korea (Smart education), Switzerland (Wikis), Norway (Mixed learning model and co-education), Serbia (Video on demand), China (Stem - education, Moodle, Block chain). We continue with some initial thoughts on online teaching and learning in higher education in general, and emergency online teaching and learning more specifically. All of these technologies have advantages within a single state. After an overview of the international research compiled in this Special Issue, we derive a number of general insights on online teaching and learning in higher education, emphasizing, for instance, scaffolding of regulation processes or communication platforms as potential artifacts of an online teaching and learning. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

This research work aims to assess the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in times of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the digitalization of the administration of justice in Peru. For this, the mixed paradigm was used, complying with the criteria of a non-experimental descriptive investigation. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, in addition to descriptive statistical methods based on graphical analysis. The results focus on the variables: procedural burden, understood as the number of judicial processes and the approval rate of the judiciary. It was found that the use of ICT avoided the suspension of procedural activities in the administration of justice, it was possible to reduce the number of judicial processes, which facilitated the processing and reduced the disapproval of the judiciary. It was concluded that the application and use of ICTs in times of the COVID-19 pandemic was an ideal and convenient experience for the context, streamlining interaction in the judicial field, facilitating the performance of procedural activities and being configured as a support tool in judicial work, favoring the judicial system and its procedural actors. © 2023, University of Cienfuegos, Carlos Rafael Rodriguez. ABSTRACT

Purpose: The paper aims to investigate the most influential social media information sources to trust in healthcare facilities. The article shows a valuable point of reference for understanding how social media becomes the casting of social capital. Design/methodology/approach: This paper has taken 660 responses from the people who used social media for healthcare information in the mid of 2020 during the pandemic. The people were approached through different social media groups. The paper conducted structural equation modelling (SEM). The result has shown that with the instigating power of social capital where people put trust in social media information during pandemics. Findings: The findings demonstrated that personal sources, government organisations and healthcare professionals are the most influential sources of social media. In order to effectively ensure the encompassing provision of COVID-19 health services, this article argues that social capital considerations establish trust between healthcare facilities seeking community to healthcare information providers. Research limitations/implications: This research has signified that social cohesion and concern for community welfare instigated people to engage in social media communication. The inherent social capital belongings influence people to trust the sources of health information from selected sources that appear on social media. Practical implications: Healthcare policymakers may utilise this intense feeling of belongingness and cohesion of social capital and use social media platforms to spread health-related information. Originality/value: The study shows social capital has the strength to entice people into healthcare-seeking behaviour. In this era, social capital is reformulated to digital social capital through social media and strongly affects people's trust. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

The health risks of socially vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, the sick, and the disabled, are significantly elevated under the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, the different factors affecting the use of information technology by socially vulnerable groups under COVID-19 are explored at the level of the use of emerging information technology. The impact on the information behavior of socially vulnerable groups under COVID-19 is also explored at the level of information behavior, including health information needs, the digital divide phenomenon, and the utilization of public information services. Based on the above findings, the current status of information behavior research for socially vulnerable groups is combined. Future research directions of information technology and information behavior for socially vulnerable groups are proposed. First, to improve the research theory of information behavior of socially vulnerable groups regarding information technology. Second, to apply big data technology and data analysis technology to explore the information technology adoption behavior of socially vulnerable groups in-depth. Third, to construct the information behavior model of socially vulnerable groups based on empirical research cases. Fourth, to use information technology for socially vulnerable groups according to information technology and the barriers faced by socially vulnerable groups in using information technology, and to provide strategies for using information technology that meet the needs of socially vulnerable groups. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

AIMS AND METHOD: This review aims to clarify the evidence on the effectiveness of telepsychiatry following the COVID-19 pandemic. We conducted a literature review of three databases (Cochrane Library, PubMed and PsycINFO), using the terms virtual consultation/telepsychiatry/video consultation AND psychiatry/mental illness. RESULTS: We identified 325 eligible papers and conducted a thematic analysis resulting in five themes: patient and clinical satisfaction, diagnostic reliability, outcomes, technology and professional guidance. The most significant factors linked to effectiveness of telepsychiatry were patient and clinician satisfaction and adequate technology to facilitate examination of the patient. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: The consistent diagnostic reliability, satisfactory clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction linked to telepsychiatry favour its continued use once the pandemic ends. The main barrier is reluctance among clinicians and lack of professional guidance. We recommend education on the uses of telepsychiatry among clinicians, and the provision of professional guidance for its use from medical bodies and organisations.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected how clinical examinations are conducted, resulting in the Royal College of Psychiatrists delivering the Clinical Assessment of Skills and Competence virtually. Although this pragmatic step has allowed for progression of training, it has come at the cost of a significantly altered examination experience. This article aims to explore the fairness of such an examination, the difference in trainee experience, and the use of telemedicine to consider what might be lost as well as gained at a time when medical education and delivery of healthcare are moving toward the digitised frontier.

ABSTRACT

This paper describes the means of health care used in a primary health care centre (PHCC) in a rural area to care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. After conducting a cross-sectional study using health questionnaire with 243 patients (100 COVID-19 and 143 other pathologies), we observed that general medical care was 100% by telephone, and little use was made of the portal for citizen information and appointment requests of the Conselleria de Sanitat de la Comunidad Valenciana. Nursing attended 100% by telephone, as did the PHCC doctors and the PHCC emergencies; in the case of taking samples, blood samples and wound care it was face-to-face (men 91%, women 88%), and at home (9% and 12%). In conclusion, different care patterns are observed according to the PHCC professionals, and the need to improve the online pathway with care management.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Healthcare workers (HCWs) have faced considerable pressures during the COVID-19 pandemic. For some, this has resulted in mental health distress and disorder. Although interventions have sought to support HCWs, few have been evaluated. AIMS: We aimed to determine the effectiveness of the 'Foundations' application (app) on general (non-psychotic) psychiatric morbidity. METHOD: We conducted a multicentre randomised controlled trial of HCWs at 16 NHS trusts (trial registration number: EudraCT: 2021-001279-18). Participants were randomly assigned to the app or wait-list control group. Measures were assessed at baseline, after 4 and 8 weeks. The primary outcome was general psychiatric morbidity (using the General Health Questionnaire). Secondary outcomes included: well-being; presenteeism; anxiety; depression and insomnia. The primary analysis used mixed-effects multivariable regression, presented as adjusted mean differences (aMD). RESULTS: Between 22 March and 3 June 2021, 1002 participants were randomised (500:502), and 894 (89.2%) followed-up. The sample was predominately women (754/894, 84.3%), with a mean age of 44⋅3 years (interquartile range (IQR) 34-53). Participants randomised to the app had a reduction in psychiatric morbidity symptoms (aMD = -1.39, 95% CI -2.05 to -0.74), improvement in well-being (aMD = 0⋅54, 95% CI 0⋅20 to 0⋅89) and reduction in insomnia (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 0⋅36, 95% CI 0⋅21 to 0⋅60). No other significant findings were found, or adverse events reported. CONCLUSIONS: The app had an effect in reducing psychiatric morbidity symptoms in a sample of HCWs. Given it is scalable with no adverse effects, the app may be used as part of an organisation's tiered staff support package. Further evidence is needed on long-term effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to make an in-depth analysis of the prevalence and nature of the phenomenon of Internet use in teaching. The selected grades are grades VI to grade IX which in the literature are known as lower secondary education. The researcher has used the mixed method model, including qualitative and quantitative research strategies. The study involved n = 164 students and n = 117 teachers from eleven 9-year schools in the city of Prishtina, and n = 117 school staff. The results from the questionnaires with students that are quantitative in nature showed that the use of the Internet in schools is an integral part of the schools taken in the study. Most of the teachers stated that they had not received training to deal with the new models of application of technologies in teaching and a considerable part of them stated that they were unsure how to react in case an obstacle appeared in the non-functioning of technology during the lesson. The sample selected in the research consists of a total of 281 respondents, of which 117 were teachers and 164 students. There are a total of 117 employees and leaders of educational institutions and 164 students who will serve as samples. [ FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT

The objective of the article lies in determining the place of information technologies in the process of making management decisions, as well as determining the current level of their implementation with the formation of forecasts for the near-term prospect. Methodology. The assessment of the level of information technology development has been carried out on the basis of Statista (2021) and Gagliodi (2020) data by applying deduction methods, graphical and comparative methods. Results. The analysis of statistical data has revealed that the growth rate of the use of information technology in management decision making has slowed down in 2020-2021. The data obtained show that the IT market is currently focused on the supply of devices and software for remote working. Services on supporting decision-making are used less often, although in the current unstable environment, they should be the ones to pull the focus of leaders onto themselves. © 2022, International Journal for Quality Research. ABSTRACT

In 2021, the second year of confinement due to the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 and its variants, public universities continued with virtual classes. In this case, the technology sector requires professionals who are capable of performing competently in the workplace;therefore, it is important to apply efficient teaching methods on information technologies in the training of students. In light of this, the research was developed within a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design and proposes to determine the relationship between cloud services and attitudes to information technologies in students of the Professional School of Electronics and Telecommunications of the National University of Education (UNE). Information is collected from 68 students, students from the first academic cycles are excluded. The results show that the efficient use of cloud services has a significant impact on attitudes towards information technologies.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: 'POD Adventures' is a gamified problem-solving intervention delivered via smartphone app, and supported by non-specialist counsellors for a target population of secondary school students in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. AIMS: To evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of undertaking a randomised controlled trial of POD Adventures when delivered online with telephone support from counsellors. METHOD: We conducted a parallel, two-arm, individually randomised pilot-controlled trial with 11 secondary schools in Goa, India. Participants received either the POD Adventures intervention delivered over 4 weeks or usual care comprising information about local mental health services and national helplines. Outcomes were assessed at two timepoints: baseline and 6 weeks post-randomisation. RESULTS: Seventy-nine classroom sensitisation sessions reaching a total of 1575 students were conducted. Ninety-two self-initiated study referrals (5.8%) were received, but only 11 participants enrolled in the study. No intervention arm participants completed the intervention. Outcomes at 6 weeks were not available for intervention arm participants (n = 5), and only four control arm participants completed outcomes. No qualitative interviews or participant satisfaction measures were completed because participants could not be reached by the study team. CONCLUSIONS: Despite modifications to address barriers arising from COVID-19 restrictions, online delivery was not feasible in the study context. Low recruitment and missing feasibility and acceptability data make it difficult to draw conclusions about intervention engagement and indicative clinical outcomes. Prior findings showing high uptake, adherence and engagement with POD Adventures when delivered in a school-based context suggest that an online study and delivery posed the biggest barriers to study participation and engagement.

ABSTRACT

As of the start of COVID-19 pandemic, the need to change the modality in which classes were being taught arose in the administrative computer systems undergraduate program of the faculty of accounting and administration of the Universidad Veracruzana, which brought within the problem to ensure that the learning process was equally effective under dual modality. The main goal of the presented research is to carry out a correlational analysis to determine if certain variables had a positive impact in the students learning process under the face-to-face and virtual modalities. An exploratory and descriptive research was carried under a quantitative data collection to test a hypothesis based on a statistical and inferential analysis. The research shows, it can be stated that the learning delivery model for the selected sample was better under the face-to-face modality. And that the use of technological platforms for online classes was a factor that positively contributed to online learning. © 2022 IEEE.
